Master Poet Amde Hamilton of the Watts Prophets
read selected poems from his recently published
book "Me Today, You Tomorrow: The Journey
of a Street Poet". The event provided
viewers the rare opportunity to hear Hamilton's
latest poems and view Brady's latest politically
charged
"Flag" series. "David's
art is raw and honest, from the street,
as are my poems", says Hamilton. As
a poet Hamilton has toured the world, inspired
thousands of students and adults, and created
a Hip Hop choir.
"When the
90’s came, I saw that justice and
morality was no longer a reality in most
men’s reality".
Amde Hamilton
Hamilton has always connected his words
and thoughts with art; collaborating with
a number of acclaimed musicians, writers
and painters. He collaborated with Brady
for a project with the UCLA/Hammer museum;
juxtaposing his live poetry with the large
scale projections - literally putting Hamilton
in the art.
